In vitro antidiabetic property and phytochemical profiling of Mangifera odorata pulp using UHPLC-ESI-Orbitrap-MS/MS

Mangifera odorata, or known as “kuini” in Malay, is considered an underutilised climacteric tropical fruit. Recent studies had suggested that the by-products of M. odorata may serve functional food ingredients based on their nutritional values and biological activities. Thus, present work was aimed to determine composition, antidiabetic properties through ?-glucosidase ?-amylase inhibition assays, phytochemical profiling pulp using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionisation orbitrap tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-ESI-Orbitrap-MS/MS). Proximate analyses found contained high amounts soluble fibre moisture. The main sugar identified sucrose, while ß-carotene, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc were major vitamins minerals. extraction sample water, acetone, methanol, ethanol performed for determination assay. results showed 60% ethanolic extract highest inhibitory activity among four solvents. findings revealed levels mangiferin active extract, which be responsible activity, thus contributing lower post-prandial blood glucose. provides evidence benefits pulp, well potential use its inhibitor.
